The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Undersecretary for Research and Development, Usec. Rowena Cristina L. Guevara, together with DOST Region 10 Director Alfonso P. Alamban and DOST Chief Science Research Specialist Engr. Romela N. Ratilla, visits the Mindanao State University at Naawan on April 10, 2019 and meets with officials and researchers to discuss updates on current researches and to look at research facilities of the Campus. This is in light of the recent approval of the DOST-funded Niche Centers in the Regions (NICER) for R&D program of MSU Naawan entitled, “Mindanao Sea Cucumber Research and Development Center”.
Usec. Guevara answered inquiries and expressed admiration to the faculty-researchers upon learning that MSU Naawan is working on many researches like sea cucumbers, corals, tilapia, bangus, siganid, pigek, abalone, earthworms, and others. She stressed the importance 6 Ps and the addition of social and economic aspects in future proposals to secure funding from DOST.
She was welcomed by officials and researchers headed by Chancellor Elnor C. Roa, Research Director Ruby C. Gonzales, Extension Director Renato D. Boniao, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Grace I. Prado, Project Leaders like Dr. Wilfredo H. Uy, Prof. Renoir A. Abrea, Dr. Venus E. Leopardas and many others.
