NOMCAARRD Joins DATE 2024, a Showcase of Science and Technology (S&T) Innovations and Products from Mindanao

The Northern Mindanao Consortium for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (NOMCAARRD) participates in this year’s Davao Agri Trade Expo (DATE), the biggest and longest-running agri-business expo in the Southern Philippines. The DATE is a unique and compelling platform that will include showcasing the science and technology (S&T) innovations and products from Mindanao that are ready for commercialization. These are products of the projects funded/supported by the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources, Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD).
 
The said event which will be held at the SMX Convention Center, Lanang, Davao City on September 19-21, 2024 will be participated in by the Mindanao regional consortia namely Southern Mindanao Agriculture and Resources Research & Development Consortium (SMARRDEC), being the lead consortium in organizing the event; Northern Mindanao Consortium for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (NOMCAARRD); Western Mindanao Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (WESMAARRDEC); Caraga Consortium for Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development (CCAARRD); and SOCCSKSARGEN Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (SOXAARRDEC).
 
The conduct of the DATE generally aims to actively promote the Mindanao consortia’s market-ready science and technology (S&T) innovations and products in the agriculture, aquatic, and natural resources (AANR) sectors. Specifically, the event seeks to strengthen the capacities of the five (5) Mindanao consortia in promoting S&T innovations and products, particularly on the design and development of marketing materials; intensify the awareness of the local investors and potential adopters of S&T innovations and products that are being exhibited; and engage the local media in the promotion of S&T innovations and products and the DATE as an event.
In this event, NOMCAARRD will showcase S&T innovations and products specifically the TazCure, Natural Fungicide from Tasmania piperita, which Dr. Victor V. Amoroso, Dr. Florfe M. Acma, Dr. Chris Rey M. Lituańas, Mr. Rainear A. Mendez, Dr. Iris R. Pescadero, and Dr. Annabelle P. Villalobos of CMU have innovated; Purple Sweet Potato Flour innovated by Dr. Queenie Ann L. Curayag of CMU; and Spirulina (Arthrospira Platensis) Biomass, a refined small-scale production technology, innovated by Dr. Kaent Immanuel N. Uba, Dr. Ruth D. Gaid, Ms. Flordeliz C. Bonga, Ms. Gaireen D. Gaid, and Mr. John Mark L. Perales of MSU-Naawan.
